Adventure Tours

Adventure with us!

Japan is such a unique place that offers an even more unique experience for anyone that has had the pleasure to visit this exciting & incredibly welcoming country. For many foreign travelers, Japan can be intimidating, but not to worry; Pacific Reach will help plan your perfect Japanese experience. With a small travel group, adaptable itinerary, & experienced guide, our trips allow freedom and personal interaction of traveling solo with the security and ease of a giant package tour. Let us show you how we travel!

how adventurous is the adventure tour?

Some travelers may be mildly alarmed at the term "Adventure Tour". If that's the case, be at ease. There is no bungee jumping or cave diving on our tours (unless you want some in there). We use the term when talking about the current wave in travel: small groups, traveling with a guide, using local transportation, staying in traditional-style accommodation wherever practical, and with plenty of free time to explore built into every schedule. No tour buses or matching windbreakers, no megaphone or name-tags.

That said, every trip involves a fair amount of walking around, and there's bound to be some time spent standing on a crowded train. This is Japan. Public transportation is smooth, timely, and efficient. As a result, people use it! So will we. Mobility issues are a thought, as there will be stairs, and sometimes we will be carrying out bags, but we won't be doing any running, nor will we be scaling mountains.

Tour Highlights Include

  • The electric neon of Shibuya by night

  • The bustle and energy of Shinjuku

  • The incongruous forested serenity of Meiji Jingu Shrine, in the heart of Tokyo

  • The youth-driven pop culture of Harajuku

  • The mountain hot springs in Hakone, in the foothills of Mt. Fuji

  • The graceful garden expanse of Heian Jingu Shrine in Kyoto

  • The nightingale floors of Nijo Castle

  • The Temple of the Golden Pavillion: Kinkaku-ji

  • The zen quietude of Ryoanji Rock Garden

  • The pure water temple: Kiyomizu-dera

  • The Atomic Bomb Dome and Peace Park in Hiroshima

  • The sacred beauty and fiery color of Miyajima Island
