Tour Philosophy

Small Group Travel:
Our group will be no more than 12 travelers, plus the guides. Every detail of travel and all the logistics of movement are planned, coordinated and attended by Jason Murray. But the dynamics of the small group allow for the flexibility to make this your adventure. Individual needs or requests can be addressed on the move, and we can easily fit into some of the more interesting and cozy inns and restaurants.
Direct Interaction:
We’re on the ground, traveling like the Japanese do, with no barrier between you and the locals. At times we stay in family run inns, and we travel by bullet train, local train, public bus, and the occasional taxi. There are no tour buses, and no uniformed guides with megaphones on this trip!
Variety of Experience:
We get a feel for as much of Japan as we can, without exhausting ourselves. The size of the group, the size of Japan and the unbelievable speed and convenience of the railway system are our allies in this. We stay in traditional old inns, as well as deluxe high-rise western-style hotels. We visit ancient temples and hyper-modern urban centers. And while every stop on the trip is included in the price of the trip, they are all optional. Feel free to cut away and meet the group elsewhere if you like. We’ll be there to give you suggestions and help you get wherever you want to go.
But what do we mean when we say "Adventure?"
