Experience the food, the customs, the language of
Japan. Live as a member of a Japanese family and
attend a Japanese school. Make Japanese friends,
practice your communication skills, and take part
in student cultural activities and sports. Then
travel the famous sites of this ancient—and cutting
edge—civilization. See the lights of Tokyo and feel
the serenity of old Kyoto.
Homestay
Our programs are geared toward giving you the full
experience of living as a student in Japan, and an
integral part of that is the homestay program. We
match you with a Japanese host family and encourage
them to treat you like visiting relative. You’ll
get the full picture of home life in Japan.
School Life
Perhaps the most exciting part of our Student Programs is the school visit. There’s no better way to familiarize yourself with the real Japan than to engage with students your own age. You’ll attend classes, play games and do activities with your host school students You’ll sharpen your communication skills, expand your cultural awareness, get up on some new trends, and build a few friendships.
Added bonus: Impress your new friends with your first-hand knowledge of Western Culture and shocking ability to pronounce nearly every English word correctly! You can even help them translate their t-shirts (good luck with that)!
Travel
Another
key part of our programs is seeing Japan
itself. When we aren’t in homestay or being
hosted by a school, we’re on the move. We ride
the shinkansen all over Japan, stopping to
explore Kyoto, Hiroshima, Nara and elsewhere.
The programs are built to show you a
cross-section of Japan’s most famous
historical and cultural sights, while still
leaving plenty of free time to check out the
high tech, pop-culture scene. And of course,
we’re with you every step of the way.
Added bonus: We promise to rescue you if you get lost. And we won’t tell your parents that you weren’t paying attention. We’ll only make fun of you a little.
Apply
Each
year Pacific Reach runs a number of trips to Japan
for various schools. If your school is working with
us you can get the full tour details, the itinerary,
and an application from your Japanese teacher or from
our offices directly.
