Japanese Intensive/ Landmark Tour

Pacific Reach LLC, in conjunction with Tokyo Mirai University is organizing a combination Language Intensive/Landmark Tour. The sixteen-day program is divided into two stages. Week One is a language intensive with 4 – 5 hours of instruction per day, plus field trips and cultural activities. Week Two is a sightseeing exploration of Japan.

Classes
Japanese
Classes will be divided by level, and will
consist of 5 – 10 students per class. Students
are required to have had at least one year of
high school level Japanese classes. Only
students currently in high school, or having
been in high school during the spring semester
of 2008 will be accepted for this program.
Itinerary
Day 1- Meet
at San Francisco International Airport. Check in,
and fly to Tokyo
Day 2- Arrive in Tokyo and Travel to Shinkjuku to check into student accommodation
Orientation for the eveing and the week.
Day 3- Placement testing and the start of classes at Tokyo Mirai University
Afternoon Special Interest Activity- Tea Ceremony
Day 4- Japanese Classes
Afternoon Field Trip- Shinjuku
Day 5- Japanese Classes
Afternoon Field Trip- Akihabara Electric Town
Day 6- Japanese Classes
Afternoon Special Interest Activity- Japanese Calligraphy
Day 7- Japanese Classes & Completion Ceremony
Afternoon Field Trip- Asakusa
Day 8- Special Activities and Sightseeing with Tokyo Mirai University Students
Dinner in Shibuya
Day 9- Field Trip- Harajuku and Meijijingu
Free Time
Day 10- Check out of accommodation
Shinkansen to Kyoto to see Kinkakuji (the Temple of the Golden Pavilion) and Ryoanji Rock Garden
Check in at Shunkoin Temple
Day 11- Shinkansen to Hiroshima
Visit the Peace Park and the Peace Memorial Museum
Free Time Downtown
Check in at Hotel
Day 12- Visit Miyajima Island and Itsukushima-jinja Shrine
Return to Kyoto by Shinkansen
Return to Shunkoin Temple
Day 13- Morning Ceremonies at Shunkoin Temple
Train to Nara; visit Todaiji and Kasuga Grand Shrine
Free time in Nara
Return to Kyoto
Day 14- Check out of Shunkoin Temple
Kyoto Sightseeing: Kiyomizudera and the Kyoto Handicraft Center
Shinkansen to Nagoya and check into hotel
Day 15- Baseball Game at Nagoya Dome: Giants vs. Dragons
Free time in Sakae District
Day 16- Check out and Fly Home
Day 16- (again!)- Arrive in SFO.

The Details
The
Japanese Intensive Tour will start on June 21st and
return on July 6th.
The Tour Price is $3,950. This includes airfare, 24-hour chaperones, guides, transportation, materials, accommodation, entrance fees and classes, all breakfasts, and most other meals during the school study portion of the tour.
Applications with deposits are due no later than April 15th.
Final Payments are due on May 15th.
