About

What is Pacific Reach?

Pacific Reach is a certified California Seller of Travel, owned and operated by Jason Murray, with the help of a dedicated staff of experienced guides and tour coordinators. With offices in San Francisco and Tokyo, we have been organizing trips to Japan for individuals, schools, businesses, and other organizations since 1988. We're a relatively small company, and pride ourselves on a high degree of individual customer service and a strong connection to each of our clients. From all of us at Pacific Reach, we welcome you on your next big adventure!

Why Japan?

Quite simply, Japan is wonderful. The cities are electrifying, friendly, clean, and safe. The countryside is lush, serene, and beautiful. Japan marries its feudal traditional past with its cutting edge future like no other culture in the world. It is the land of the shogun and the geisha, but also the apex of high-tech robotics and perhaps the 21st century's most vibrant youth culture. Japan is a country rich with turbulent history, with deeply ingrained culture, and with magnificent cuisine, scenery, architecture, shopping, arts, & so much more.

Who is Jason?

Every adventure tour and as many student tours as possible are coordinated and escorted by Jason Murray, the president of Pacific Reach. Jason has been living or traveling in Japan for over 20 years. Along with a degree in Asian Studies from UC Berkeley, he brings with him over a decade of experience in leading all types of tours through Japan. Back home he enjoys sailing, diving, snowboarding and writing about himself in glowing terms in third person.
